Believe it or not it works a LOT better than the first two Scooby Doo movies.It was direct to video, it was intended to be a lesser money maker but it still remembered that it was a live-action version of Scooby Doo. It tried to be a Scooby Doo movie and not a cartoon and because of that it succeeded where the others failed.It didn't insult the Scooby Fans by trying to be what it wasn't. The jokes landed better because they came more from a live action sensibility than a live action trying to be a cartoon sense of humor.What you got was an honest Scooby movie done with a lower budget than its predecessors, but one that kept it's feet on the ground and worked so much better.
