Joe Gardner is a middle school teacher with an affinity for jazz music. After an audition at the Half Note Club goes smoothly, an accident happens that separates his soul from his body and transports it to You Seminar: an institution designed to nurture souls before transporting them onto newborn children. Joe must enlist help from other soul-in-training, like 22 (who has spent centuries within You Seminar), in order to return back home safely.
